SLIGO ROVERS WERE held to a scoreless draw in Thomond Park on Friday night thanks in large part to a man of the match performance from Limerick goalkeeper Barry Ryan.
The result, coupled with those elsewhere, could see Sligo slip to second place in the Airtricity League.
It was a disappointing night for Rovers who certainly started the game the brighter of the two sides with Anthony Elding featuring prominently throughout.
However, it was Limerick who had the game’s first real chance when Bossekota’s goal was correctly ruled out for handball.
Sligo began the second half with similar intent to the first when Elding forced a fine save out of Barry Ryan just seven seconds after kick-off.

However, Rovers failed to capitalise on a number of well-worked set pieces in the second period and Limerick were good value for the draw in the end.

Elsewhere, St. Patrick’s Athletic claimed top spot in the league thanks to a 2-0 win away to Bohs.
